Mr. Eason

Mr. Eason was one in a million. He was more than a teacher. He was my friend. I thank the Lord for the privilege of going to PCA and having him in my life.

My heart is breaking for he and his family today. He lost his precious daughter, Mollye, in a drowning accident. I don't know the details, and they are really insignificant.

Mollye was 5 years younger than me, so I didn't know her that well. I do know she was beautiful girl who came from an awesome family. Her sister, Elizabeth, was in the class behind me. She and I were in the trio together, so we shared many fun times together. It just so happened that Mr. Eason was our "coach" and played the piano for us. One year we sang "Going to the Chapel", and I don't think I ever hear it that I don't think about those fun times we shared. I also still chime in with the second soprano when I hear it. I think the year we sang that is the year we placed first. :)

I must say I was Mr. Eason's pet. There is nothing that man would not have done for me. I really don't know why. There are so many things I could share with you. He was my History teacher my Jr. year, and my Bible teacher my Sr. year. One day, I remember telling him I was hungry. He asked what I wanted, so I told him a chicken sandwich and sweet tea from Lex's. Needless to say, I had that for lunch that very day. I am not a studius person, nor do I care to be, (lol) but somehow I got A's in History and Bible. Do you know who got the Bible award her Sr. year? ME~

Mr. Eason is also a pastor. I can remember so well where I was standing the day he told me he would not marry my daddy again if I didn't want him to. That meant the world to me. He did remarry my daddy, and life went on. The last time I saw him was February 18th, 2008. He preached Daddy's funeral. He was one 2 speakers, and I could not have been happier. As usual, he bought a smile when it seemed there wasn't room for one.

He has been there for so many during these difficult times we all face. I feel there is not much I can say or do, but I do know I can pray for healing of this family. I pray they feel God's arms reached around them during the next days, weeks and months ahead.

As I continue teaching, I hope I will be just half the influence on these little lives as Mr. Eason was on mine.

Prayer is all that one can offer in a time like this... even though I don't know the family, my heart breaks for them. Losing a child has to be the worst fate any parent could face... I too will remember this family in my prayers over the next few days, weeks and months.

I certainly can't imagine a loss more greater than the loss of your child.... hopefully, the family will find peace and be able to move on.

I also have such fond memories of Mr. Eason. Molly and I actually graduated together. I just can't seem to wrap my mind around it...

That was so sweet what you said about Mr. Eason. I will have to say that I was his pet my senior year as well. I, too, received the Bible award my senior year! :~) I do feel for him and his family at this great time of loss. My heart and prayers go out to them.
